For carburizing baths, in neutral and annealing baths up to 850 ° C, the crucible can be constructed in low carbon steel and with external CrNi coating.
For the baths in neutral and annealing salt with temperatures up to 1000 ° C, crucibles with steel have to be temperature resistant.
Crucibles wear more in these treatments because they are exposed to heating and cooling thermal changes and the salts used inside these crucibles baths are very corrosive.
The crucibles for salt bath are used in furnaces for the heat treatment of metals, in neutral and other salt baths. Crucibles are mainly for the 3 following heat treatment types : nitriding, carburizing and annealing.
Crucibles specifically fabricated for salt bath are manufactured by Musto et Bureau Srl: they are competitive in economic terms, especially if compared to their lifetime, but higher performance features can be provided and adjusted to customer needs.
Casting temperatures range from 600°C to 1000°C. Normally for neutral baths, hardening baths and some types of annealing baths we use specific crucibles named for salt baths, similar to those used for magnesium castings, with low carbon content and an external stainless steel coating.
For neutral salt and annealing baths with higher temperatures, we use a crucible with a high content of chromium and nickel.

Processes can be nitriding up to 600 ° C, carburizing up to 950 ° C or white annealing up to 1000 ° C.
